Signing In With Apple, Google, or Microsoft

You can sign in to homecoin with a linked Apple, Google, or Microsoft account. Use the same provider and the same provider account each time.

What does a linked social sign-in mean?

When you choose Apple, Google, or Microsoft, that provider confirms your identity to homecoin. homecoin does not receive or store the password for your Apple, Google, or Microsoft account.

Each specific provider account can be linked to only one homecoin account. Be sure to choose the exact provider account that you originally linked. Another provider account with the same or a similar email address will not work.

For Microsoft accounts, the displayed email or username can change. homecoin therefore checks the linked Microsoft account itself, not only the email address shown by Microsoft.

Will I still be asked for two-factor authentication?

Yes, when two-factor authentication is enabled on your homecoin account. Signing in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft does not skip your homecoin two-factor check. You must complete that check before sign-in or an account invitation can finish.

Your social provider may also require its own security check. Apple, Google, or Microsoft controls those provider prompts.

Can I add a homecoin password?

Yes. If your account currently uses only a linked social sign-in, you can add a homecoin password from Account Settings → Sign-in Methods.

To add your first homecoin password:

1. Start the password setup from Sign-in Methods.
2. Sign in again with the same provider and the exact provider account linked to homecoin.
3. Complete your homecoin two-factor check, if it is enabled.
4. Create and confirm your new homecoin password.

You have 15 minutes to finish this process. If you accidentally choose a different provider account, you can try again with the correct one. Choosing the wrong account does not switch your homecoin account.

If you cancel, run out of time, or do not complete a required step, your account is not changed. You can start again later.

Can I keep signing in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft after adding a password?

Yes. Adding a homecoin password does not remove your linked social account. You can continue using the linked Apple, Google, or Microsoft sign-in, and you can also sign in with your homecoin email and password.

After you add a password, standard homecoin password recovery also becomes available.

Why does standard password recovery not work for my social-only account?

A social-only account does not yet have a homecoin password to reset. The standard “Forgot password” process cannot create your first homecoin password.

For privacy, the password-recovery page may show the usual confirmation message, but homecoin will not send an unusable reset email for a social-only account. Sign in with your linked Apple, Google, or Microsoft account, then add a password from Account Settings → Sign-in Methods.

Why might I need a homecoin password for signing?

You can sign your own documents after signing in with your linked social account; you do not need to add a homecoin password just for self-signing.

A usable homecoin password is required for in-person secondary signing or removing a secondary signature on a shared device. In that process, the named signer must personally enter their own homecoin password and confirm that they intend to sign or remove their signature.

Never share, email, or text your password. Enter it only on homecoin.

Will adding or resetting a password sign me out?

When you create your first homecoin password, homecoin signs your account out of every other web browser session. The browser session you just reauthenticated remains signed in.

If you later reset or recover your homecoin password, every existing web browser session is signed out, including the session used during the password change. Sign in again with your new password or your linked social account.
