Under 9 V.S.A. § 4466, added by Section 103 of Act 181 (2024), landlords must provide this disclosure at or before the lease is signed using the FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area Mandatory Rental Disclosure Form. The form identifies whether any part of the premises is located within a FEMA-designated flood hazard area and helps ensure tenants are aware of potential flood risks and the availability of flood insurance through FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program or private insurers. This notice must be provided at or before lease signing.
The Vermont Flood Disclosure Guide explains how to determine whether a property is located in a FEMA-designated flood hazard area, how to locate the official Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM).
Landlords are also required to provide tenants with the Protect Your Family from Lead In the Home pamphlet.
